Has anyone heard any news relating to the other death - my son was one of the witnesses so he is keen to know what happened as a result ?

:( A very sad event.

Apparently the truck driver didn't see him - he may not have had his lights switched on and been wearing less visable clothing - which is still not a good excuse for the driver but it could've made the difference.

A cycleway is being built under the two Petone overbridges as we speak, well, during daylight hours. Must be part of the whole package of improvements...

Just reading a piece on the case on part A10 of the DomPost (05 August 2009) where the Defence is suggesting "that Mr Fitzgerald may have veered right, close to the truck, as he avoided a drain". I haven't noticed any drain being there - has anyone else ?

On National radio they said he would be sentenced in 3 months. It could be 3 months in prision or a $4500 fine. Don't quote me on that....it was what Mary Wilson said.

:( Terribly sad for all concerned
(I wished some other drivers learned about the effects on the driver concerned too – they might think twice)
