Recommend Me A Water Bottle

Postby dwgknz on Wed 28th Jun 7:51am

Time for some new bottles.

Been using Specialized Big Mouths for years now. They're cheap and shift a lot of water but wondering if theres something better.

I had a look at the cupboard at home where all the freebie ones go for the kids and there's nothing that compares in there. There is a camelback one with a big rubber nozzle but looks like it would catch a lot of crud....

So any ideas?

I like the Powerade electrolyte bottles. They have quite good flow and are effectively free. Rather than buying some asspensive name brand just use it after a ride then refill refill refill refill refill til it dies...?

For me specialized bottles or the camelbak ones.

I don't mind the sistema ones that often are shop ones or promo branded ones, but probably wouldn't buy one of them

Never had any success with powerade bottles. I've bought them when I've forgotten bottles before but find that don't fit the cages well.

Seems like Specialized are the way forward.

Someone (Rik) should do some Vorb ones for fundraising. 50 large big mouth ones are only $350 (USD). I'd buy a few.......

The specialised ones are easier to clean than the camelbak ones. My camelbak podium bottles catch crud inside the nozzle when on dirty rides and if I use electrolyte drink it tends to like to grow black mould in the little blue valve, even when rinsed and cleaned that night. You can pull it mostly apart, but it isn't simple to clean. Easier to drink out of than the specialised one though, ATMO.

They look alright, hopefully the rubber backing on the velcro strap grips nicely

I have been recently using a set of the king cage universal support bolts, which seem pretty mint

30% off all Camelbak bottles at Rebel Sport currently.

I know, it's a Briscoes sale - but might be slightly cheaper if that's what you want

I just use the good ole Torpedo 7 ones. Rubber nozzle ( no lip trappage ) , squishy ( easy to get the liquid out ) clear plastic so I can see how much liquid is left , I don't mind roughage in my diet . 750ml
