Curry pastes are not to bad once you get the hang of making them and have the ingredients to hand, maybe 20 mins all up. I've got some mean thai paste recipies at home that are easy to make with a blender (or Mortar and Pestle if you fancy a work out). I'll post them up when I get a chance.

in a fry pan with bacon and cook till bacon is done to your taste.
add one 300ml bottle of cream and reduce down
add cooked fresh pasta (can be dried) to fry pan and mix through as heating.
and its done.

have been meaning to try this with some blue chesse add with the cream.

Do what he said but before you serve it add the yolks of two eggs and serve immediately, don't cook the yolds or you'll get a crappy version of scrambled eggs. makes the silkiest cream sauce for pasta you could imagine.

hmmm will have to try that.

Chop up some sun dried tomatoes. Add some cream cheese and breadcrumbs. Stuff into a chicken breast. Wrap in some proscuitto, bake for about 40 mins. Add other stuff to the plate if you want. Eat. Mmmmmmmmmm

Chocolate and peanut butter swirl

360g White chocolate chopped coarsely
400g Dark chocolate chopped coarsely
140g smooth peanut butter

1.Line baking tray (20cm x 30cm) with greaseproof paper.

2.Melt white chocolate in bain marie - or a large glass bowl in the microwave. Once melted and runny, mix in peanut butter till smooth.

3. Melt dark chocolate as above and allow to cool slightly.

4. Drop alternate spoonfuls of each mixture into tray. Gently shake the tray to get the mixture level. Pull a skewer through to create marbling effect.

5. Allow to set (2hrs at room temp, but much quicker in the fridge) and cut into squares and eat.

Made a Carrot Cake tonight. Its from the Alison Holst (sp) red book. About the best carrot cake I've had.
It was the only thing I could make as we only have about half a cup of plain flour.

I should get around to trying the "Race Cakes" of SweetP's

Use what ever pumpkin you want, triamble, crown, butternut etc (different flavours) and chop it up to rough chunks and add some olive oil, a good grind of salt and peper, maybe some rosmary leaves, toss, and then roast it! If you haven't now eaten it all take the skin off it and put to one side. Also if you ever have left over roast pumpkin form a roast dinner( like if) freeze it and use to add to the soup mix.

Sweat some diced onion and garlic in some butter in a pot (low heat, lid on, just until soft)
Add in the pumpkin, and liquid chicken stock (I use a Campbell's small pack and top up with some water) top up with ater until every t hing just covered.

If you want add about 1/2 tsp of chilli powder and coriander powder. and more ground black pepper.

Bring to the boil and simmer for 10-15 mins. Leave to cool a bit and puree with a blender or stick blender. Bring back to the boil and simmer for 10mins, check seasoning. If its to think add more stock or water.

You can add cream if you want (I normally don't) and server with some chopped fresh coriander

A Thai style variation is use some coconut milk (not a lot at all needed), 1 tsp red chilli paste to sweat the onions in, some lemon rind added in with the stock and sometimes a small amount of fish sauce.

I haven't put quantities and I vary them a lot based on whats at hand, how many mouths to feed etc

yup, internet seems to be 21st century, just not the oven...

slow cooker worked fine for cake, slightly overcooked if anything, and in only 2.5hrs!

put baking paper in the bottom, cook for an hour on high, turn to low then watch till done, yum!
