Agree that don't want any more mess into it. It wasn't great anyway but definitely want it back to at least as good as it was. I used to kayak Avon weekday evenings as it was the only safe place could train during darkness. We have alternatives of Pegasus, Waimak & Kaiapoi but there's no where with enough street lighting. Ideal would be to take the opportunity the disaster has created, wipe out a few munted houses near Kerrs Reach, straighthen the river a little and gain a world class kayak & rowing course.

wide enough for rowing, and if control gates get built appropriatly, then DR and WW can also be accomodated - all in a city centre!

we have the oppertunity to make chch the best city in the world here, and it all starts with canals.

To get Gerry on side, all we need to do is tell him that the 'fish' in 'fush n' chups' come from canals

As for the areas they are saying no one can build on again, perfect opportunity to regenerate these areas into lush native forest again, resplendent with MTB trails through the kauri trees, cycling to tui song etc etc..
