Re: Introducing Pxt 2 Vorb

If people could send some PXTs Vorb's way that'd be great

1.) Go to http://www.vorb.org.nz/ac-sms.html and fill in the relevant information.

2.) Send a PXT to pxt@vorb.org.nz

3.) Hopefully view your photo at: http://www.vorb.org.nz/photos-album-153.html

4.) Those of you who use Mobile Vorb ( http://mobile.vorb.org.nz ) will notice an option appears to add PXTs to your posts.

Photos may take up to 5 minutes to appear. I've set up an error logger so I should have a fairly good idea about what is going wrong and why.

SETTING UP YOUR PHONE
Your phone must be able to send PXT via e-mail. Because of the differences between Telecom and Vodafone PXTs we can not have it so you just send the PXT to a phone number.

To enable your phone to send PXT via e-mails check out these links:
Vodafone: http://vodafonenz.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ ... faqid=2657
Telecom: Unfortunately Telecom’s website keeps giving me server errors

PHONES THAT HAVE WORKED SO FAR
Motorola E770v
Nokia 3220, 5140, 6225, 6680, 6230
Panasonic VS2
Samsung ZV10, ZV30
Sony Ericsson K700i, K750i, T68i, V600i, V800
Sharp GX25
Please help us with troubleshooting by putting the full name and model of your phone here: http://www.vorb.org.nz/ac-sms.html

TROUBLESHOOTING
The most common problems we’ve experienced so far are:

Incorrect PXT E-mail Address
If your phone number is 696969 your PXT e-mail address is most likely 6421696969@pxt.vodafone.net.nz for Vodafone or +6427696969@mms.xtra.co.nz for Telecom. If your photo hasn’t appeared after 5 minutes send a PXT to your own e-mail and make sure that your PXT e-mail address is entered correctly here: http://www.vorb.org.nz/ac-sms.html

PXT Not Attached To E-mail
Some phones/ services send a link to the photo rather than attaching the PXT to the e-mail. These will not work, but you may be able to solve it by talking with your phone company. To test this send a PXT to your own e-mail – if you only receive a clickable link then it will not work with PXT 2 Vorb.

Old Phones Send Weird PXT Formats
Some older phones send weird PXT formats which the Vorb server cannot process because they do not correspond to industry standards. The only thing you can to make PXT 2 Vorb work is to buy a new phone I’m afraid.

Blah!! Oh how I despise Telecom. If I could afford it I'd have a 5140i by now.

All Vodafone PXTs have come through mint so far - but I don't think it's quite that simple as some Telecom PXTs from some phone have worked in the past.
