The Taupo Mountain Bike Club in conjunction with Taupo Pak N’ Save and their trusty friends Coca-Cola (Pump Water) and Wide Open Distributors are proud to present NZ’s first ever Pump Track nationals Sunday 28th November 2010 ( morning after Round the lake cycle challenge / Huka Challenge ).

Held Taupo Pak N’ Save Pump Track – County Ave Spa Park (off Spa Rd by the Day Night Thriller car park). This promises to be an awesome day of PUMPTRACK action with categories for almost everyone.

Registration will take place from 9am
Briefing at 9.45am

Categories:

The 3 person teams race will be a pursuit type race (all riders on the track at once) timed from front of front wheel to back of back wheel (Yeeeah haaaa!)

Great prizes will be given for age group champions, fastest age group lap and fastest team. The overall individual fastest lap time will be crowned The Pump Water / Taupo Pak N’ Save 2010 Pump Track Champion.

A great spot prize will also be on offer to all paid entrants… A PIMPED UP PUMP / JUMP BIKE WORTH $2500… YOU GOTTA BE IN IT TO WIN IT!

Lunch will be had at 12pm and Kids/Dads Runner bike event will take place just for some fun. Finals will be straight after lunch, prize giving will follow and all should be done by 2pm.

Here's a brief writeup from the club

The inaugural Pump Track Nationals was a massive hit over the weekend. Special thanks to our major sponsors TAUPO PAK N' SAVE and WIDEOPEN DISTRIBUTORS for their fantastic support of the event. Their spot prizes and place getters prizes were greatly appreciated by all riders. Money could not buy the smile off Josh Osbournes face when he realised he had won the major spot prize... a $2500.00 jump bike! Congratulations Josh. We hope to see you out on the pump track giving that bike death. Thanks to Karl from Coca Cola for all the free pump water. It was much appreciated given the heat. Thanks to Corey from Tip Top Bread for putting on the BBQ. Thanks to Dave Rose from Descend Rotorua for providing a state of the art timing system. Thanks also to AG Scaffolds Taupo for supplying the awesome roll in ramp. And finally thanks to all riders and supporters of our first ever Pump Track event. The Taupo Mountain Bike Club looks forward to continued success with similar events in the future.

Congratulations to Des Curry (17-35 years) our overall winner with a smoking hot time of 0:35.77 for our final lap. 2nd place went to local lad Mason Bryant (11-16 years) in a time of 0:36.23, and 3rd place Kurt James (17-35 years) at 0:36.93. Congratulations to all place getters in the various age categories.

Also thanks to Helen for the great pics :) http://picasaweb.google.com/GiddyInVegas/PumpTrackNats2010Taupo#
