L'eroica Vintage Race In Italy

Postby Fraser on Sat 25/May/13 11:12pm

Sounds like quite the bucket list sort of event.
Pre '87 bikes. Steel frame only- only exception being Alan or Vitus lugged alloy frame.
Down tube shifters. Pedals with toe clips -exception is Cinelli M71.
Brake cables external to the handle bar.
Low profile <20mm wheels with at least 32 spokes.
The race is more of a tour of the most beautiful parts of Italy. Gaiole in chianti, Siena. Which is broken down into 38km, 75km, 135km or 205km starting at dawn on October the 6th in Tuscany.

That looks (to me) incredibly tempting. Almost worth brushing off the old Modolo's...

If they want they can wear the old leather hairnet style helmets, but plenty don't. If you're making some kind of point, just remember that rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools. I think it was the Legless Wonder Douglas Bader who said that. ;)

Well this is a good illustration of the what the old racers like Coppi and the others went thru.

I'm heading over to Noosa to do the Strade Bianchi in a few weeks. Looks like a fun event.

I'll post some pics when I come back.
