So you're recommending buying a complete new crank set just to replace chainrings?

Can't be serious

SLX's are only fractionally heavier than XT's, and much stronger...

Are the Deore's the same chainring design? They're cheaper again _$100_, but have steel chain rings. Which is what I want for winter.

SLX has steel granny and middle rings too. Just an alloy big ring. Same as Deore.

buy a steel slx 36t ring and a 26, and put enduro bearings in the BB. under $200

Just found a sweet 'eco friendly' degreaser - SEPTONE water based degreaser from Bunnings.

Just used it for a chain clean - farkin brilliant.

so, do these things still exist and what is the actual name for them? I saw one at a bike shop about 2 years back but cannot find them anywhere on the internets or on the manufacturers websites. Its a clamp on guide for a front mech cabal...
