cool pulse jet.....

did the UK TV program "inventors" ever make it out to NZ? 2 teams of 4 compete each week, in 2 days, to make a machine based on a basic description. I.E no gear driven car. Sort of like scrap heap challenge but slightly more polished.

it was won by a team of Kiwi ex air-force boys who built an LPG powered pulse jet cart. It hit about 120mph down the drag strip at Shakespeare park raceway!

thats a turbine not a pulse jet... HTH

jets a jet when its just an interest...looks the same/similar to a novice eye.....just saying

spotted this very nice old MOPAR at the bp today

I know we've probably all seen this car before, but it's still f*cking sweet, and has some ridiculous specs!

need more info. New Van? Old Van? modified van????

check your maths before, many vehicles are actually cheaper here once you add in the GST on the purchase price, shipping and Insurance.

basically you have to produce the manufacturers compliance sheets to present to the LTSA at time of the inspection, the local agents will charge like wounded bulls to get a copy. BMW NZ stung me $800 for a single sheet of A4 paper to prove the vehicle I'd purchased complied with the NZ regs. They told me that had it been for a later model vehicle from their range (and not a classic) it would have been many thousands. A mate also got hit by Porsche who stung him $8000 for the paperwork!

PS: this may have changed as it was 9 years ago I last brought a car back, wouldn't do it again unless it was something very collectable

What are you lookingto import ( a Vitto I guess?)

probably best to find a vehicle importer , who can deal with the paperwork and customs crap

But you need to pay for things like GST, MAF inspection on entry, NO duty (AFAIK)

but you do need to be careful of vehicle age, although not as strict with commercial vehicles, best to ask the questions before you get it here

About 5 year old VW Transporter.

Yeah, its all about the maths to see if it is viable.

I have to do a shipping crate to get the rest of my stuff, seeing if it would be worth while bringing in a van and possible a mini as well and up sizing to a container for it all.

what model Mini? Original or the Maxi sized hatch back? unless it fits classic status you can't bring in a Mini (original) and BMW will hit you hard for the compliance certificate for the hatchback thing. Honestly though it won't be worth while, I assume its a UK Van? So it will be ex white van man one, run on salted roads and probably hammered. Original Minis won't pass the front impact rules, but look on trade me and you will see that you can buy a later model Rover Mini Cooper for 13K, so assuming you pay 2500-3500GPB, then 1000gbp plus shipping, then 12.5/15% GST on car, shippine/insurance its hardly worth the effort.... the VW will cost an arm and leg in parts, so just buy a Hiace/Transit/Vito/VW Jap import when you get home.

Dunno, but either the steering lock is balls, or this guy can't park.
