Well well well. Went for my first Tip Track ride this evening (in the rain :( )and yes, it did take me less than an hour  Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (which is a sure sign that I wasn't going as hard as I should have been! ). Am looking forward to see how much faster I get on my second attempt now that I have a bit more of an idea about what to expect :)

Nope but I can tell you this. It goes up, STEEP, then about halfway it gets flatter, then flat, then a slight rise, then a wee down, then a wee up and then a wee down, and then it goes up STEEP!!!!

Attached, profile of climb taken from polar monitor. The lap is gate to gate. You'll notice the tip track is made up of two climbs split by short rolling section. Both climbs are 13.5% with the first 1.8km long and the second 1.2Km.

This was the first time up the tip track in 2 years and was 3 minutes faster than previous best time without trying for a PB. I'm going to try for sub 30 next ride.

Cool graph Muzza! Interesting that the second climb is much the same gradient, feels much easier to me.

The 13.5% is average gradient. The start of the first climb is much steeper with the last section leveling out as you reach the top of that climb.

The second climb is more even climb

Nice improvement papoulos. My splits to the stockyards are almost exactly half my times to the top.

This cool southerly should mean reasonable conditions for a ride up there so will give it a go this afternoon. Will aim to start at around 4pm if anyone is keen to share the pain. :( My best time last year was 28mins but have eaten a few pies and downed a few beers since then so will be interesting to see how the legs go. Papoulos - what was the track like after that rain?

Sifter: Thank you. At 20 min I start the last climb.

CookedCray: it was dry but not dusty despite the strong North wind in some places.
