So how did the 29er forks end up riding?
only just put them on beofre taking that picv, and have just bunnyhopped around the deck a bit. they are awesomely light, and not flexy with the bolt-up axle.

Finally got the ss built up.

Got the frame given to me 2 years ago, a 1998 kona lavadome. Disc tabs put on by Jeffeson. Really should have got horizontal dropouts put on at the same time. :(

Built up with various parts I had lying around and some stuff from some vorbi.

I think I have it set up right now. Mark I with an 8 speed chain and the tensioner pulling down didn't work but mark II, a bmx chain with half link and tensioner pushing up seems much better from my quick ride I had up wrights hill.

Couldn't track down an 8 speed half link, if anyone knows where to get one let me know.

Running 32:16.

Looking good Nick. Steel Konas always look nice.

You want an 8spd half link? I'm ordering some stuff from SJS Cycles in the UK - they specialise in all that quirky, end of line and hard to find stuff. They have this little beauty...

I'll add a few on the order. Should be here in a couple of weeks.

Looking pretty nice there doc.

So... will it take priority over the race bike?

Looks nice Nick. Those KMC chains look cool IMO also. Tell the missus to clean the floor again though please.

Pete: thats crazy talk

Honeymonster: Is 3/32 the width of an 8 speed chain. I thought it was the bmx width. (or does it still work.. all very confusing)

Dented: I'll get the missus right on to it.

3/32 is 8spd, 1/8 is BMX width. And if you really can't wait, Burkes normally has 8 spd half links.

I might have a 1/8 half link somewhere too.

Thanks Kah.

No hurry now that I've got a bmx chain up and running but thanks for the offer.

We should head out for a ride sometime. :)

Had my first decent ride on the ss and  it.

Went up wrights hill rd, down salvation then up Makara peak summit via koru, sally alley, missing link and aratihi.

All easily doable with 32:16 and didn't miss the gears at all. Right finger stopped twitching to shift after a couple of minutes too.

Good fun. :)
