Talking about introducing stuff, they're planning on introducing Dung Beetles http://www.landcareresearch.co.nz/news/release.asp?Ne_ID=281 to help farmers clean up their act. Wonder how that could go pear shaped...

The 'coons don't mind being thrown, they are already dead.

I'm not so happy about the effect on humans though, as HB says it is a matter of respect.

I have done a lot of possum flinging (it is harder than it looks) but making it a public sport for family entertainment doesn't feel right.

Probably in ways we didn't expect. Someone here may have an updated figure but ages ago someone listed all the introduced species in NZ with an evaluation of how well they fitted in. The ratio of Successful to "Oh crap, we didn't expect that" was rather low.
