I am not kidding you when I say there was a weather station in Gebbies Valley http://www.wunderground.com/global/stat ... 0.html#PWS that backed us up mate! I checked it before I left and when I got home to make sure wind was all good but its gone! No one will believe us but I swear it was there!

Commuted to work and back yesterday but by the time I got going (10am) that Nor Wester and my 2kg backpack meant I didn't have a chance in hell of posting a competitive time up there so didn't bother. Pretty happy with most of my times (even though most of them were into headwinds :hmmm: except for Govs to SOK, and Evans so hope I get a chance to at least give them a bash in the next couple of days.

Did backwards Long Bays today so rode into that Southerly all the way from Charteris to the blue Duck and was 6min slower than usual! Took me basically to Sumner to claw back that time with the tailwind. Shit there are some fast guys out there though. One guy who passed me was doing intervals, but the trouble was his recovery speed was about as fast as my normal speed so in no time at all he had disapeared off into the distance...
Was nice cruising along the Causeway at over 40kph compared to last week when at full gas trying to get a gap on this triathlete , I could only manage 32kph into the stinking headwind. But that Southerly up Evans was just ridiculous Today! I thought even so, around 9min shouldn't be too hard but even though went nearly all out, managed only 9min30! So take that Millsy! :D Last week cruised up in 9:05 in the Nor Easter and I wasn't even trying for a good time in comparison...

And i got it wrong anyway, I'm quicker than him on 4 of the climbs and am going to try and improve on a couple more tomorrow :p

All in the spirit of good fun of course!! :D :D

But you wait CG - its a long summer and when you are at the bottom there is only one way to go :sneaky: But for the moment I'm stuck in Australia for another day 'cos the plane broke down and I coudn't get across to Sydney to make my connection back home this arvo :( Real shame as I had my eyes on a real quick Dyers and Lyttleton-Evans tomorrow - maybe later in the week

I just did a flat ride today after a rather hilly one yesterday (no times to post sorry), just building a base and doin some interval stuff. Rode out to Lincoln in heavy drizzle and a horrid headwind and then stomped it from TaiTapu back into town (no wasn't me Ahad!). I smoked Nimesha Smith at 50kph on my way back into town so felt real cool :p

re the Gebbies Debate - yes it is sheltered on the bottom half, but experience suggests it's the steeper bit before the first hairpin that a keen southerly offers the most assistance. Was a strange wind today though as I didn't feel like I was getting huge assistance coming back from Taitapu but heading out to Lincoln it felt like a force 5 gale :D It's a respectable time & I know Jimmy will smoke it in a week or two anyway - I say let it stand.

I have spoken.

Nah - my cough is actually getting worse after 3 months. I'm off to the doctor tomorrow to ask for a miracle drug. Tried antibiotics and they did nothing. Tried flixotide and that did nothing. My 3yr old daughter has had hers about the same amount of time as me so I'm guessing something's not right. It's getting fxxn annoying to say the least.

Also very stressful week with work last week so was feeling bloody average at the end of the week. I recon stress stays in your body for quite a few days and impede's performance. My heart rate felt like it was through the roof climbing up Dyers on Sat morning even at 20min pace

Great time considering
Been feeling really average all week, legs just seem pretty fried and been having too much booze on Fri/Sat nights which hasn't helped, so be nice to have half decent conditions to find out if my sudden form slum is as bad as I think it is ;)

JimmyM shot another 3 in to head straight for the top of the table...
... until XCguy stamped his territory and went back to top points with a smashing 12:27 Gov-Dyers (on his wifes birthday) - fantastic result for this time of year - there were only 3 sub 12 times on the board at the end of last season
JimmyM then knocked of Gebbies, this in borderline conditions for wind assistance, what if I give you a 6:01 for that - which is your predicted time and a 10 sec correction, meaning you sustain the same rating), it means you get to complete the 8 to bag some points but don't go ahead of riders like Ahad who go out of their way to ride this climb in neutral conditions.
markie5, I hate doing this (I don't really want to be the police!), the wind at lunchtime was a lot greater than at 9am and your new time comes in 30 sec under your predicted time (based on your rating) so I'm not sure what to do with this...

FYI wind assistance guidance is now on the homepage.

Remember tommorow is the cut-off point for points, I will do the points update on Wed (first day of spring) for all times recorded until the end of tuesday.

They probably dont go out of there way to go climbing in the cold and rain either ;)
What would my predicted time for gebbbies have been with all of my other times put in that were done over the weekend into head winds?

mfw,

don't worry about my new Gebbies time, its only a bit of fun anyway. Not sure if the climb from the other side up to Gebbies is harder but I did that straight after and got 6 20' into the wind so I think I'll beat my Gebbies time in neutral conditions soon anyway.

cheers

Your predicated time would have been faster, good point :hmmm:
Am waiting for final input from the wise old wind Shamans (that know these hills better than I do) on these two Gebbies times but the current whispering is that they will be allowed :D  :paranoid:
I just want to be loved and keep everyone happy

Don't worry Ahad, I'll let you keep your .1 advantage over me. I'm out of action for a few days. I've been struck down with this annoying cold thats going around :(

Hey Mfw,
Just wondering, do you have to do all 8 climbs to get any points. Or do you still get points for the climbs you've completed?
It's just i'm back home for the holidays and can't see me doing the remaining climbs tomorrow after i've had a seven hour drive.
Cheers.
