:pmob: Kate will be out if it is a 10Km run as well, but given that the entry form doesn't say that, I think we will be safe.

I've not done it before. I spotted it and thought i'd promote it on here to rein in more keeners. I think the running and riding will all be on the easier side of things considering the location, but I don't actually know the course.

Like you said, sounds very achievable and something fun and different.

Hmmm I've ridden both of these and had a friend do the run. Grand Traverse run can be a bit of a bitch, and Crazyman run slaps a couple of decent hills in it. But possible for all abilities, with a bit of training ;) Don't let what I say put you off they are both great events, and I will be doing them again next year.

P.S Check out the hot guy MTBing on the Crazyman's video, 1min 39sec into the video and even waves at the cameraman, yes that's me

Great to see some support for our races (says she who won't be there cause she's racing down in the Sth Island this weekend). We're trying to resurrect Hutt Multisport Club with a focus on low key local races. Looking at a MTB duathlon series in the lead up to Grand Traverse and Crazyman next year.

Let me know your thoughts after this race- things we can improve on, ideas for others.

Given the number of spotties R&R have provided (thanks Scotty for organising!) should be worthwhile for those competing this weekend.

Enjoy!

I'd be superkeen on a MTB duathlon series! Lemme know what dates you decide on so I can add them to my race calendar before I commit to other things :)

Would love to be doing this in the weekend, but I'll be teaching beginners how to MTB up Makara Peak instead. Still fun, but for a whole different set of reasons

I did the HVMC Duo series in 2007. I really enjoyed it and it waes well run.

I had never run before the first round where I came off the bike in 2nd behind Hisky, and then got smashed in and managed to lose about 15 places in the space of 5km. I was broken.

But in the last round I got off the bike in 3rd and held my place in the run to finish 3rd! It was what convinced me to try Crazyman and Porirua GT in 08.

I think with acheivable courses and good promotion, the series would be a great success again. It would need a short option so that peope could genuinely try it for the first time. The distances at the Tom Ehlen would be about right. Maybe even shorter for the easy course.

I'm thinking of my Wife when I say all this! I not just setting up a burgle ;)

I guess so. Drive thru Porirua to Titahi bay. harbour on right. At the primary School (on left) there is a left hand bend, rugby fields in front of you. Turn right (there is a traffic island I think). Rowing club is immediately on your right (you can see it from main rd).
Just keep the water on your right.

Have fun. It is a good event. I dont know whether to to do it or do the Mtb Orienteering in the Akas.

Shes pretty nervous as its her first running race.

You looking to burgle the win Davo?

No. But why the hell would it be a burgle?

Its an event for beginners isnt it?. least thats what the application form insinuated.

The app form said "perfect for multisport rookies". didn't say you had to have not done any before :hmmm:

My legs are so sore from my one run that I can't squat down or bend over [insert witty comment on my love life here]

I have my rigid geared bike ready. Just need a front mech and stuff now. Although I am able to jump off and change gear by hand and remount quicker than I thought.

Sunday's weather should be good.

I think i'll ride first.

You can't avoid getting on the bike with worked shanks if you run first. But on the bike you are spinning into transition and the biking isn't load bearing, so you are less buggered. Also your system is properly warmed up and running 'hot' as you head out on the run.

Doesn't matter what order if you are a team though.
