:) Here is one of my last big bikes.
I rebuilt it from a right off - mainly front end and bodywork.
I resprayed it - orange is my favourite colour (see my SS).
Suzuki çomfort' seat and high screen.

FLATULENTFRIEND wrote:  I agree. Its going the cafe racer way.
I've got wire wheels for it(front ex TX650 twin disc = like hen's teeth), reverse cone shorty muffler, flat handlebars, bikini fairing, larger tank, teeny tiny indicators, a beefier swingarm, Triumph taillight, and I cut off the centre stand and pillion footpegs.
I have had the frame etc sandblasted, brakes re done etc but need to polish the engine and reassemble it and paint it (thinking probably classic black or BRG).

Here it is before dismantling with the mags still on.

wicked cool!

Its quite easy to wind out the blackbird. I went faster than that on the demo. I also found myself tootling along at 200(felt slow after 285). I hit 200 just passing a truck, the acceleration from 100 is phenomenal.
Not really sure what the point is in all of this. Its not like the 90s when cops would just wave hi when you go past at 150.

I had a nice old guzzi 500 for a while which felt pretty quick at 140.
Currently lusting after both of these:

I would hope things have progressed since the mid 80's. I owned an RG500 2 stroke built in 1986 and it did 264 km/hr and took care of many 1000 / 1100cc 4 strokes in acceleration. 200 km/hr - hmmm would have been clicking from 4th into 5th with one more to go. If you could launch the thing it could pull low 10 second quarter miles, not bad for 500cc ;)

And it is the reason I got off road bikes :D , I do miss it sometimes though :(

Akaroa GP's were a weekly event and if we got chased you didn't stop ever ! Things were a bit more liberal back then though

A friend of mine has one of those Guzzis ( beige ? colour ), preferred his ZX10 though

I learned to ride on an RGV250 2 stroke :paranoid:
More fun than you can poke a stick at. :D

Now you've got me looking at the (motor)bikes for sale. :paranoid: Can't put my other bikes on the back tho.

For those who have not experienced the thrill of this speed.....

ps...the outside is MILES per hour!!!

At 230 miles per hour the speedo reaches the end, after that the rev counter still goes up by another 1000....I'd say he topped 250mph!

The first two years the ZX12R's had no restriction. Old man took me for a ride on one, could hardly keep the front down. The acceleration is just something to behold.

I have a feeling you can get the restrictons removed. I think if you just say you're doing track work with the bike they can take it off. Have been proved wrong in the past though.

RG 500 were a dodgy bike, tones of power in a frame made of limp wristed jello. definitely a point then squirt machine. 28mm fork stanchions on a 500cc two stoke? come on suzuki!

The thing that impresses me most about big sportsbikes is the 80-120 time. Not even the fastest supercars come close
