Longwalk, are you telepathic? That sounds exactly like the kind of build i'd like to see for the 18th Hole. And it would see fairly low numbers, seeing as most people turn only go as far as windy point up Barking Emu (missing the best bit of the trail). Not so much removing small vegetation as scouring a trail into rock.

So it sounds like we need a seeding system for SDP. Applications in triplicate?

no I was thinking of a secret build, as motorbikes would ruin a open access.

Strava will ruin a secret trail on public land, someone will ride with it on and then another guy will be creeping Strava and see something and want to check it out. Won't be long till everyone's riding it....

yep that may be true but how many people ride in deeper darkest akatawas? I'd only ridden the 4wd stuff before and a lot of riders don't want jungle riding. Plus if you make it a hundred meter hike before you begin I can't see it been flooded with riders. Its a long way to drive to for most and a long way to ride once you get there. Plus keep it at least advanced -mostly expert level.

I know a couple of trails that resemble that.

Enter the bush at a seemingly random place, push a 100 metres or so up hill and .... bliss.

All above sounds radcore. More difficult jungle goodies is good.

On a less good note: Anyone know what was up with the chopper this morning?
It was hovering roughly over Serendipity - maybe near the rock garden - for ages, then lifted and left with a bloodbucket-sized package hanging from a cable.

Hope no-one smashed themselves up down there...

Likely Transpower related, they do a fair bit of maintenance and inspection by helicopter. No longer work there or would be able to find out.

Thought ambo's would just carry someone out of Polhill rather than chopper.

Yeah, ambo could get to most spots in there - and the power lines were my first thought, till I got down by Durham st, when I realised the chopper didn't line up with the lines, and the package underneath was a familiar size/shape.

Fingers crossed for Transpower not Rescue.
