This is a petition to change the current ruling for womens Downhill at the World Cup races. Currently the top 20 womens semi-final results qualify a racer to participate in the finals at World Cup Downhill events. We would like this rule to be changed from its current status to the previous ruling of top 30 semi-final results qualify for the finals.

The current ruling was made at a time when the women participating in downhill had no knowledge of the change taking place, any petitions to the previous ruling and without consultation. The ruling was created to satisfy an irrelevant argument that has no bearing on womens downhill and can easily be avoided.

-The ruling was changed from top 30 to top 20 after a meeting where complaints where made about women being to slow on course during practice.

-If there are women that are "too slow" they are only eliminated on the day of racing which results in there being no difference in the female presence during practice.

This ruling is limiting womens racing, the number of women supported in racing and limiting the growth of the womens international contingent.

We ask that for the remaining World Cup races in the 2008 calendar the ruling be restored to Top 30 semifinalists qualify for the finals.

Sounds like a really dumb solution to the problem to me As they said, irrelevant - less in the final doesn't mean less in practice days. I'm sure they could find a better solution to this problem. More womens final spots FTW
