Those courses weren't in the area of Orongorongo Forest Park we're looking at (in fact I believe they're on a private farm somewhere close by.)

So they fall outside the scope of what we're looking at.

Here's a computer generated 3D overview of the area and a satellite image from Google Earth. Unfortunately the satellite image is taken from halfway through logging so the forest cover obscures a lot of the land form.

Any chance of some ghetto MS paint work on the shots to illustrate where we will be?

Could you do a rough outline of the area we have to work with using Google Earth and post the resulting kml file? Is it everything between the road along the ridge down to the flat or just the logged area (assuming the logged area shown in GE is still current)?

Basically everything you can see in the first shot.

Mmmm...tasty. There are definitely some opportunities in there (so long as we remember to stay out of the stream beds until the very bottom)

...so, for reference, I take it that the main (wainuiomata/coast) road is to the north of the shot, and everything else is logging roads (probably better than 4wd roads right now, but bound to get rutted out over time unless maintenance is undertaken...)?
