Org To Lobby Cycling With Council

Postby fatass on Fri 18th Jan 6:21am

Is there some organization that's worth joining to "lobby" cycling with Auckland Council and help them make better decisions on how to promote cycling?

I've seen cycling and the spend on cycling path in the news a few times and I think it's good that AT are spending some money on cycling, but I think regular cyclists are probably best positioned to suggest change that will really have an impact.

I think a pink cycle lane in the heart of the city where dad can take his daughter cycling on a Sunday morning is lovely for a family outing, but not really something that's going to promote commuting by bike. I think they need to focus on smaller projects where people are actually commuting or likely to commute.

Anyway, is there any group or organization like that that one can get involved with?

Thanks, I've joined. Doesn't look like there's much going on in the Auckland group, but I'll see how that goes.

Cheers!
