Has anybody seen September? I feel like I missed it. Time flies when ...yep you know the saying, and fun is what I have been having. Fun for me is making this place better and better...and better for the ever increasing numbers of riders that are finding Woodhill and getting hooked on the rush that Mountain Biking gives them.
With it being October ALREADY, that means that it's only 2 weeks until the Airfield is open, 4 weeks until the 12 Hour and 8 weeks until the Xmas Party...YEEHAH! I'm not even going to mention Xmas itself because no doubt it will be only a couple of weeks before the Xmas Sales are on and the crappy CD's are playing everywhere you go..my promise to you is, you will not hear one single Xmas song up here at Woodhill. In the meantime though there's heaps going on, so I'll see you here!!

In it's 3rd year our annual day to night event is destined to set a new benchmark in 12 hour events. There will be a real emphasis on the social feel to this event so everyone can come along and have a blast.
TRANSITION AIRFIELD
Rodders and the crew have been shaping and tuning (and riding) the dirt jumps like mad dogs getting them ready for opening in two weeks time. The torrential rain that we have seen lately has slowed things down a bit but we are sooo close now. It will be an ngoing project with lots of tidying up to be done, but the jumps will be ready at least.
Two of NZ's top pro Dirt Jump riders Chris Beverland and Casey King came up last week on their Transition Bikes and have ripped it up, loved it and offered their suggestions to take it to the next level. Spoke Magazine and a film crew have already got some great footage, which we will post up for you as soon as we can.
Thanks also to Matt Harris (Woodhill Sprints Freeride Champion), Steve and Dan for their help.
NEW TRAIL INFORMATION
BACKROAD TRAIL
The trail crew and I managed to put in over 100 hours in just 3 days getting the long overdue Back Road Trail stage 3 open and ready for riding.
Back Road Trail in brief:
* It will start from just inside Spaghetti Stage 1 (opening soon)
* Currently ends at the bottom of SPCA .
* Great alternative during busy times for Intermediate+ riders to get to ride a sweet trail to the old carpark and subsequently the Northern Trails. All done without "Sitting in Traffic" so to speak, hence the name.
* Stage 3 (OPEN) starts where Spaghetti stage 3 and Fattucini Trail start. Ask staff for more details.
The Back Road Trail is:
* Fast and Flowy
* Predominantly Downhill
* The few up's are short or easy.
* A rough idea of what its like would be if you cross the downs of SPCA Trail with the sweet lines of Afterglow Trail.
As always with a new trail will need bedding in, however in its two weeks of being open it has already settled a great deal. We believe that the process we have used this time will allow it to bed in much quicker than normal so get out there and ride it! We will go in, in a week or so and fine tune it, if you have any suggestions please let us know.
CHARLIES ANGEL EXTENSION
We have also started the ridable line out from the bottom of Charlies Angel. This advanced XC favourite has just got even longer. The new section also meets up with the soon to be completed Back Road stage one which means the new climb out is rewarded with a fast flowy downhill section and gives riders the options to rejoin Spaghetti or carry on the Back Road. Keep an eye out next time you're to see if it is ready to ride. Warning it's XC and its a grind..bring it on!
Thanks to Phill Platt (builder of No Brakes Needed Trail) for his help.
NEW STRUCTURE
Andy (creator of AV8A structure) and staff are building what could be the first structure rated 6X in the park.
More info soon, but for now..its huge!!
