News From The Pro Tour

Postby sifter on Wed 3/Nov/10 3:01pm

I'm starting a new thread for general discussion about comings and goings in the world of road cycling.

A couple of articles on cyclingnews piqued my interest today:

Pegasus misses ProTour license, so Clinton Avery will get to "cool his heels" in a Continental Team for at least a year (did he sign a 2 year contract?) http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/pegasus ... nouncement

DS discusses changing attitudes to doping. Phew... http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/holm-sa ... -on-doping

Cancellara weighs 79kg at top form... :( http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cancell ... -departure

I hope this thread has legs (and isn't an outrageous duplication of another). Long live the TdF threads, and of course Roadie Porn...

A couple of years into the future, I imagine it would be a bigger deal, but now it might even be good for him?

There were rumours about Jack Bauer and Quick Step mentioned at the Comm Games too. I've seen nothing about either...

Pretty sure that Bauer said the other day that he's returning to Endura for another year. Shame, but he definitely got the goods to break in to the big time soon.

Jack is back at Endura, but they will be racing on mainland Europe, or so I have heard.

Quite an interesting interview with Mario Cipollini on cyclingnews: =} http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cipolli ... f-machismo
“Pozzato has just been beaten for third place and a second later he has only one idea in his mind, to congratulate the winner,” Cipollini said incredulously. “What can be going on in his head? Has winning become so incidental at this point that there is no joy or disappointment? Are they only working men now?”
