Aratihi gets muddy as all buggery in winter, and a couple of track days spent maintaining it (or putting small grade reversals in to get the water off the track) would pay off better in the long term.

Why not finish building Northface and jfk before starting this new one. Surely it would be difficult to manage having so many projects on the go. If your not careful Makara peak will turn into a collection of half finished tracks.
My partner is not of intermediate level but does enjoy riding down Northface aside from a few dodgy corners (i can think of a few offhand). She doesnt like riding down the 4wd drive as its too rocky and steep, but has no problems riding down Zacs to get to Northface - including that top section you say is too difficult.
How long is it going to take to build this new track? I doubt it woyld be finished before winter. Perhaps time is better spent fixing the issues with Northface and completing JFK 1st.
after going for a ride up there last night I was wondering exactly this myself ....JFK is not even fully bench yet

This will be completed in a month or so while almost all of you are sitting on your bums watching television.

I feel care needs to be taken to avoid widening the gap that is appearing between groomed ‘intermediate’ tracks and the more difficult tracks that are being left to go feral. Tiding the lower section of RLE and the new bermy bits on LL together with the Zacs improvements and plans for Livewires all seem to be opening this divide. Although there is still Nikau, and other tracks outside Makara Peak that I /others can ride.
) It's nice to have some mid-ground between "yep, I can ride that fine" and "holy **** that's far too scary/technical"
