The air spring in the new 36 is so good that this is definitely a hard sell.

I want that air ramp control thing for my DH bike. That'd be frikken awesome.

Air springs with two chambers can only approximate linear coil (with high preload and weak rate) for half the stroke. The other half they get out of control.
Pick whether you want the first half or last half to behave closest to linear, set the negative air appropriatesly and suck up the compromise with the rest. It's only when you calculate or measure spring rates of a positive/negative air system that you realise how bizarre the curves are.

The air spring in the 36's are nothing special.

Adding another chamber (Manitou IRT or SDcomponents chamber) can help the weak mid-stroke but that's it.

I converted my Mattoc to coil a few months back. It turned from the best production fork I'd ridden to the best fork I've ever ridden. Most sensitive at the top end and fantastic support in the mid-stroke.

There is no performance substitute for coil springs. I think we've passed the point where air was the only option and I'm thankful for it.

Yeah, I definitely don't want a linear second half of the stroke. Can't ramp it up with a linkage so a rampy air spring has to do.

The new 36 still felt obviously air but my hands have never been so happy with an air fork, and my confidence in a front end has never been higher. In that respect I'd be hard pressed to choose a coil. If anything it's made me want an air sprung 40 for my Tues :paranoid:

Wonder if the coil kit would fit a DVO diamond.

Dat chain growth.

Easy enough to chuck a lower roller on but odd it doesn't come with one.

Elliptical chain ring would need to be clocked by 90° to make it work as intended as well :paranoid:
