New Road Rules Coming Nov. 1st

The full list of provisions in the amendment Rule covered in this document are:

the ban on the use of hand-held mobile phones when driving
the use of special vehicle lanes by vehicles not otherwise allowed on them
the correct wearing of seatbelts
the use of headlamps on moped and motorcycles during the day
allowing cyclists to make a hook turn
the use of mopeds or motorcycles on footpaths by postal services
the rights and duties of users of mobility devices and wheeled recreational devices
exemptions from arm signalling for cyclists at roundabouts
towing speeds for vehicles without a rigid towing system
parking a vehicle on the road margin
child safety locks in taxis
the use of blue beacons on vehicles
pedestrians waiting at pedestrian crossings
passenger service vehicles at level crossings
the use of safety chains on light trailers
requirements for cycle lights (must be visible for 100m)
priorities for use of shared paths by road users
Road Controlling Authorities’ marking of stopping places/stands
responsibility for the use of seat belts on buses
When will this amendment Rule come into effect?
The amendment Rule will come into effect on 1 November 2009.

It's just saying that you are no longer legally required to if it makes maneuvering difficult or dangerous, and it says to indicate if practical. It's not saying you can't. :eh:

Yup. The previous need to continuosly signal could be a challenge sometimes.

gradient changes / need to change gear / using the eyes in the back of your head / crossing infront of cars / changing direction / chew gum all at the same time.

I'll still be letting cars know where I am going to the best of my ability.

I didn't know the cellphone ban also extended to cyclists...oh boy, not sure how that will go down with our pedallies and their handsets :crazy:

if you're still allowed to use a radio as a driver then surely you can still use one as a pedally, i have a corded mic to keep my radio out of the way.
