Yes, finally after months of emails and phonecalls, the Marlborough MTB Club has been given permission to build a wee trail.
The track is already marked and looks mint. Watch this space........

Starts at the top on the north ridge, this is the first weekend of digging. It's going to be a pearler!!!!!

Anyone feeling the urge to put in some time on a grubber so we can all enjoy this trail, please contact Boyd on 021417761. We did soo much today with just 5 of us. Would be awsome to get a crowd out there and really make some progress.

Tracks adds to a lovely loop already there.

...and it rocks. Even Jordan thought that it was worth the effort of pushing his stinky up from sea level. I managed to ride most of the way (yay for granny gears), but it would have been a bunch easier if we had driven to the pylon. And sent rod to ride back up to the car afterwards.

brief update...the tracks just a few weeks from completion...probably be some bedding in time ..and fixing soft spots etc...
maybe add a kicker here and there...its looking real awesome though.

so. if you do the loop, is this extra? planning on riding the loop on Friday Morning (fingers crossed the rain stays away).

if we do the loop, is there a good track down into Rarangi, rather than riding the road?

Hate to be the downer but it's pissing down at the moment.

no...not part of the Loop
but its off the fire break rd (pretty much 4wd all year round) on the Northern side of Whites Bay, which is where you would go to ride the loop...
You drive to the top carpark ,through the bollards and the DH track is on the hard left...

it comes out on a hard right handed down towards Whites bay ,there is a fair bit of room for parking..(thanks to DoC widening the area)...

the track itself.runs parallel with the fire road heading back down the hill, then veers off to the right down a ridgeline...steep and twisty with berms,little drops etc..then it hits the native bush and the track changes up a notch or two..some big steep drop/chutes...some berms that are almost wallrides...and other jumps/kickers...all while twisting through some great bush..

then its back out into the scrub...a real nice left hand berm and then you hit a nice long jump (Cock Monster )...and the trail winds back and forth down through manuka (although its nice and wide) at this point....then back out onto the road...

unfortunately weather has been crap and it would be to hairy to ride and would root the track....what we need is sun and loy=ts of it...HTH(I'm a twerp)
