Not just the world’s best will be taking on the new Genesis Lake to Lighthouse multisport race starting at Lake Waikaremoana tomorrow.
The two-day race covering 196kms from Lake Waikaremoana to Wairoa will see Nelson’s Richard Ussher, arguably the world’s best multisporter, as hot favourite to win the inaugural event that boasts $50,000 in prizemoney.
Also lining up is Napier MP Chris Tremain, who taking a day off from new Government duties to compete in the challenging event. For Tremain it’s a mixture of fitness, fun and a good cause.
The Lake to Lighthouse has been devised by the new Wairoa Community Trust, formed to help establish a number of initiatives to create a more positive perception of the region as well as develop opportunities.
