MTBNZ and BikeNZ are pleased to announce the 2012 NZ MTB Cup presented by Nature Valley. The NZ MTB Cup comprises the North Island and South Island Downhill Cups also presented by Nature Valley.

For Cross Country, a NZ MTB Cup series of four events has been retained for 2012. A riders best three results (any three) will count towards a NZ MTB Cup title.

THE EVENTS

2012 NZ MTB Cross Country Cup presented by Nature Valley, comprising:

Round 1, Sunday 15th January, Signal Hill, Dunedin (UCI Cat 1). Note – venue change: event village for XC now on Signal Hill behind Logan High School

Round 2, Sunday 22th January, Living Springs, Christchurch (UCI Cat 2).

Round 3, Sunday 19th February, Mt. Victoria, Wellington (UCI Cat 2).

Round 4, Sunday 26th February, Eskdale, Napier (UCI Cat 2).

NAPIER Accommodation:
As you might know, the Napier event clashes with the sold out "Mission Concert" with Rod Stewart (25 Feb), which has basically booked out the entire region of all available accommodation for the Saturday night (though there's still plenty of tent sites available).

We have put out a request to our local club members asking for any available spare beds, etc & have had a few replies so far.

We have also found the local Girl Guides Accommodation hall, with bunk rooms that can hold a total of 60 people @ $25 p/person p/night (though the Mission Concert security team have taken 30 beds for the Saturday night)

If any Visiting riders are struggling to find accomodation in Hawkes Bay for the final of the 2012 NZ MTB Cup (24-26 Feb), then make contact with our Volunteer Manager, Lorna, at 06.835 9813, or email: blackwhitebrindle@gmail.com , from where she can link you up with available places to stay.


The DH event (map) will be held on "LocalDH", which has had some recent modifications. An unedited video of the track here

The XC event (map) will be held on almost the same course that was used in 2011, but we've slightly modified the circuit to now be 5.9km.

NB: For DH riders, if you want to access the forest on any other day than the official event days (Fri 24 & Sat 25), or venture any further into the forest off the marked race course, then you MUST purchase a visitors permit if you are not already a current HBMTBC member.
For XC riders Friday, Saturday & Sunday are the official XC event days (course will be marked on Thursday afternoon), therefore any other day, or off the marked course, you'll require a visitors permit, or club membership for access.
