I have my first track day in just over a week

Aaron Slight will be there to provide coaching - he's going to have a busy day helping me to corner better at speed

You don't have to spend a pile of $$$ getting Slighty to teach you. Rik will coach you - his specialty is corner EXITS :sly:

I've got a VL 800 Intruder Volusia (2001). The main mods are hypercharger and stinger, plus baffleless exhaust :P

How'd it break? (forgive me if i havent waded back through ancient history of this thread where maybe you said so before???)

I did the one at Ruapuna on 11 November. Quite worthwhile but I got sent out in the "Racebike" group because my VFR is not road registered. No problem except getting buzzed by Ryan Hampton on his Blade.

Protip. When your group is called, be early and one of the first to follow Slighty round. And don't be shy about asking him or anyone there for assistance. The other thing is that the later sessions are usually less populated, so you can concentrate better. Drink water, too.

That first time you get your knee down, you'll be hooked....

 Yeah, I'm a real powder coat fan.
It's a long story re the frame - but it was in 2 halves.

Oooh i may know the answer to this. I dont think there is an XR600R. The XRs started with the A's and then RB, Rc Rd etc. Possibly the only XR with only an R suffix i.e.XR200R would have been the first twin shock which predates the 600 (there may have been an XR500R. The 600 was a refinement of the 500 so it started about RD when twin carbs and RFVC heads were putting in appearances. Im pretty sure the RN was early 90s and had the rear disc.
Hope thats right. Its going back a few bikes

Since you can weld this might be a good time to add a couple of wee horizontal braces to the front engine mount plates, and add some triangulation underneath the swingarm. Hey, you could use some old CrMo chainstays!
