When I discovered Mountain Biking I actually gave away motorcycling shortly after. Went to take VFR for a WOF and realised it hadn't been riden between warrants so. . . .
Luckily if I feel the need I have a choice between friends ZZR11, Hyabusa, TR850, or CBR600, although must confess after I buy my next mtb (later this year) I am thinking I might get some big traily and super-motard it. Would love to get my hands on an old GS1000s as it is the only motorcycle I regret selling so that might be in my future as well

So you think, ok stop being silly on the road you are safer on the track, everyone going in one direction, no cars, lots of run off.. The one at the end is the best

OK so who's going to round 1 of the NZ Superbikes at Ruapuna this weekend? Thought I'd at least get my thrills vicariously if I can't have a bike of my own over here!

The 'proper' racing starts 10am Sunday. You keen for it old chap?
Only $20 for the sunday, a bargain as the last bike race I went to (British Superbikes at Brands Hatch) was £27 - yes, pounds i.e. $65!

Yeh the weather wasn't great for the racing but it kept things interesting! The track had almost completely dried out for the second Superbike race though so they were going some. Buggy fell off on the first or second lap though, despite winning the first race in the soaking wet.
Being my first race attendance in NZ I couldn't believe a) how cheap the entry was, b) how un-crowded it was and c) that we could wander around the pits oggling the bikes. Although the British Superbikes is more of a spectacle (bigger grids, faster bikes, famous circuits, more crashes) races are overpriced, overcrowded and over-commercialised so it was pretty refreshing!
