The original "Inglourious [sic] Bastards" is a fun piece of 70's Italian nazi-sploitation crossed with the 'Dirty Dozen'. Cheap and cheerful with a side helping of guns, trains, nazi's and Fred Williamson. Tarantino's version sounds like the usual Tarantino chapter/blood fest, with the safe to advertise in America renaming 'Inglorious BastErds'.
Oh, and it has Austin Powers AND Angelina Jolies inseminator in it.

I saw a trailer for this at Star Trek. It was odd.

I just checked, it is showing at Cannes Thursday NZ time.

I am pretty sure I saw the 70's 'Inglorious Basterds' under the title 'Gi Bro'.

Nah, PJ has put his name on an interesting looking South African made sci fi movie.

They shot chunks of Doomsday in SA even though it was set in Scotland, so looks like interesting genre stuff is coming out of that part of the world.

the website is pretty cool too. I mean its pretty obvious that the artists are dealing with the apartheidt era in their own way (and none too subtly) but anything that has that honking great spaceship parked over the city being circled by helicopters gets my $15 right there.

My rather elderly parents LOVED Star Trek, as did the non fans I have spoken to, so Paramount will be minting dollars on the franchise for decades to come. Now they are openly throwing around the idea of the next one re-introducing KAAAAAHHHNNNNNN!!!!


re: d-9 - The Nazi analogy 80's sci fi show 'V' has got the go ahead for a remake series, as has the Galactica spin off, as has Dollhouse for another season, so there is going to be no shortage of shades of grey political sci fi in the years to come.

I don't like the title, as it gets me confused with this ex-weta animated movie coming out this year:
