Roam Industries from Rotorua have come on board as sponsors of the 2013 version of Golden Bay's Milk and Honey Race. Roam will be providing on of the major prizes for the event, a Midland XTC300 Action helmet cam.

Rob from Roam says "the Midland XTC300 has a good following in Europe but is not yet well known in NZ. It comes with a variety of mounts and and is worth over $300".

Along with spot prizes from Cactus Equipment and prizes for King of the Mountain and sprint prizes, this years' race is shaping up like Christmas!

I did this event last year I can't recommend it enough. Awesome course and format, very well organised, and a bargain entry fee compared to other events

Hope to be able to do it again this year.

Start of Canaan Rd.
From Takaka side turn left into Canaan Rd then a small descent the transition zone, in carpark on the left.

Shot bro, nice write up! Really looking forward to it. So from the Rameka Junction is it mostly down hill?

Yep downhill after that until the Klicks tracks finish, then it's a few (painful) km's of minor roads on the flat until the finish at Takaka, just hope you're not in a battle for a sprint finish at that stage after 4 hours in the hillz

Thats where I thought it would be - so where is the top of hill split then? (I live in Golden bay so I know the area quite well!)

Er, the top :p
OK so you go around the left hand hairpin near the top, then shortly after the climb rolls off and starts descending, that's where I took the split.

From there prolly only about 4 mins to the transition at pace, but I used it as an opportunity to feed so it was a bit slower.

My target time for this year 4 hours in dry conditions (last year was wet, my plan is to not get too caught up in the road race this year (LOL) and save some energy for the MTB - where I lost heaps of time 'cause I was stuffed.
