Someone should have been checking his nads at the finish line.

They did do some checking and SURPRISE!:

The Astana team have announced that pre-race favourite Alexandr Vinokourov failed a dope test, and they have withdrawn from the Tour.

Vinokourov, 33, was tested after he won Saturday's time-trial in Albi and is alleged to have shown two different types of red blood cells, indicating he received a transfusion shortly before the start of the stage. The Kazakh rider also won yesterday's stage in Loudenvielle-Le-Louron.

I am gutted. I can't be bothered anymore. One of my favourite riders out and it looks like dirty ole Rasmussen might end up on the podium. Bollocks to all of it I say

Vinokourov tests positive; Astana withdraws from Tour

Vinokourov tested positive for homologous blood doping after his time trial win on Saturday.
Double stage victor Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana)learned Tuesday that he had tested positive for homologous blood doping following his victory in Saturday's individual time trial.
Vinokourov and his Astana team have reportedly withdrawn from the Tour.
The 33-year-old had lost all chance of winning the Tour with a dismal performance in Sunday's 14th stage but then bounced back to take Monday's 15th stage in the Pyrenees.
Vinokourov, whose performance in Monday's stage was feted in the French press with headlines such as the 'Courage of 'Vino'', had been criticised before the Tour by UCI president Pat McQuaid for his association with Italian sports doctor Michele Ferrari.
McQuaid refused to make any statement on the matter until probably the B sample had been tested.
"I can't comment on it. We have to follow the rules," said the Irishman, who like predecessor Hein Verbruggen has now seen a team pull out of the world's most famous cycling race over a drugs scandal - Festina having been kicked off the Tour in 1998.
If Vinokourov's B sample comes back positive, Aussie Cadel Evans (Predictor-Lotto) would be declared the winner of stage 13.
Vinokourov becomes the first cyclist to test positive for homologous blood doping - the injection of an other person's red blood cells - since American Tyler Hamilton and Spaniard Santi Perez were found positive for the banned technique in 2004.
Vinokourov's Astana confirmed that the Kazakh star tested positive for blood doping.
"The anti-doping control on Alexandre Vinokourov, which was carried out on July 21 after the time trial in Albi, has tested positive," read a statement released by the Kazakh team. "According to the ethical code of the Astana Cycling Team Alexandre Vinokourov has been suspended from the team with immediate effect. The rider has asked nevertheless for a B sample analysis.
"Informed by the Astana management, the organisers of the Tour de France invited the team to withdraw, which was immediately accepted."

I like Millar's quote, "Jesus Christ - there you go, that's my quote," he blurted out. "What timing, huh? This is just fucking great."

So IF Rasmussen had a test come back positive would that make everyone who is anti feel better? you would rather see a rider be proven as a cheat? rather than a good rider who deserves to win a good battle with Contador?

or is this thread more about spreading rumour and slagging him off without actually wanting him to be a cheat?

....because it is pointless? Isn't that the approach that Armstrong always took? And Bill Clinton for that matter?

In fact I used to quite like Rasmussen. You cant help but like his aggression and style and attitude on the bike. But his behaviour really makes me wonder. Even an non pro cyclist would go out of his way to be tested when required. Common sense. I can think of only one reason why he avoided being tested. Because he was cheating at the time and did not want to get caught.

Seeing a non time trialler catch Valverde and pass him like he was standing still says to me you dont get that ability overnight. Even if Valverde did have a bad day. He beat him by over 3 minutes in that time trial.

Time will tell. He will get caught.

If you think he is doing it on bread and water the you need to remove the wool from your eyes. At least Contador has had good form all season and has been tested in and out of competition.

have you actually read any of this thread? or have you just decided what the story is, despite the lack of evidence, and anything anyone else has to say is disregarded as bullshit? i can think of certain religions operating in similar ways.

perhaps he's trained his arse off to get better at TTs. perhaps like has been already said, he was in mexico for another reason.
put it this way, you're a pro cyclist. you take off to taupo for the weekend with the mrs, and do all the relevant things like letting the authorities know which hotel you're in, the day you expect to be back home and what you mobile number is and all that. saturday afternoon you bugger off to the hot pools, meanwhile random dope testing shows up at the hotel, guess what you're not there, and it goes down as an "avoided" test.

as someone who has cooked for a tour team, i can tell you they don't do it on "bread and water" either.
