IN MEMORY OF RONALD OBERY

On Saturday 16th of May at approximately 4pm Ronald Obery (Ron) of Browns Bay unfortunately passed away whilst riding here at the Woodhill Mountain Bike Park.

Ron was a very keen mountain biker and had been a regular rider at the park for many years. Our deepest condolences go out to Ron’s wife Judith, his three children Kathryn, David and Jo, his in-law’s, Lyndon, Phil and Aimee and his seven grandchildren. The entire Bike Park and Hancock Forestry Management team’s thoughts are with Ron’s family at this very difficult time.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the group of riders who attended to Ron prior to the arrival of our emergency response and emergency services.

Riders who would like to pay their respects are welcome to attend Ron’s service to be held at Long Bay Baptist Church, 282 Glenvar Rd, Long Bay on Thursday, 21st May at 1.30pm.

Just dredging this thread cos I'm assuming that this guy's accident was the catalyst for the removal of a number of jumps from Woodhill this last week. If anybody connected with bikeparks is reading this, can you tell me if those jumps are gone permanently? Or is it just a case of ripping out anything that was old and could be accused of falling into disreapair, to be replaced at a later date with newer wood? Some of them were arse anyway but a couple of those jumps (like the ute jump, and the next one after the intersection with SPCA) were real fun.

Not really the right thread to ask this in. Just e-mail bikeparks.
