"could take years before work began"...

WELL!!!, as long as they let us in there to build a few sweeet flowing bike trails before they start wasting money on building chairlifts/gondolas/pommas... the moment its open the makers of the (lost) 'hidden' trail (parallel to Worsley's) should be in there re establishing it and extending it. not to mention all the other trails i envisage we need to get in there! Hopefully Nick will be supportive of groups commissioning, building and maintaining trails?

I find it interesting that this is all happening right at the time that the Christchurch Singletrack Club (or whatever it is called) has been established... yay!!@!!!!!

This is a subject currently being addressed by several clubs. People have finally realised that if they do not do the hard graft then the quality of trails we enjoy today will not last. As far as McVicars goes, once we have the green light things will start happening. We have discussed Vic' Park several times and it is getting pretty saturated up there, not to mention that the existing trails require ongoing maintenance.
McVicars has the potential for the MTB community to do some stuff that Vic' Park is not appropriate for. The access issue at the bottom ( private property ) is an obstacle that McVicars should not present. What this means is that the trail network could end up at the bottom of the hill still on CCC land. Long term this could support the development of competition events that require appropriate upper and lower access to succeed. It would be awesome to see ChCh's version of RotoVegas and all the events the Rotorians enjoy. Dare I say it, but if done correctly we could even see some UCI MTB comp's here in little old ChCh one day.

But yay. Bring it awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn :satan:

Oops, some dribble just landed on my keyboard. It does indeed sound awesome. Lift accessible tracks within riding distance from my house! Ooops, I just dribbled some more.

Obviously some years away though:(

But the track beside Worsley is only a signature away. Well that and 3 million more bucks.

If the CCC can come up with several million $$$ to bail a developer then I am sure if they really wanted to $3mill is achievable. Why not set it up initially so you pay a toll to ride ( bike/ horse/ girl friend - did I say that out loud :o ), walk the trails until it is paid for.

You can not put a $$$ figure on community health ;)
