Marlborough Quadrathon
The Quadrathon is one of the Malborough Multisport Clubs long standing races. It is generally held in March/April. It starts at Waikawa Bay, Picton and finishes at Paddy Barry's Irish Bar in central Blenheim. Individuals or Teams of 2,3 or 4 can compete in the 600m sounds swim, 8km kayak, 30km road cycle and 11km run. There are many prizes including a major spot prize. THE BIKE AND RUN COURSE ARE DIFFERENT TO IN PREVIOUS EVENTS
600m Sounds Swim: The swim commences at the Waikawa Bay Boat Ramp. Swimmers swim out to the buoy in the bay and then back in to the Waikawa Bay Jetty, before exiting on the north side of the jetty. Team swimmers run to tag their kayakers.
8km Kayak: The kayak starts from Waikawa Bay Foreshore, kayakers paddle to the Snout, turn left and follow the coastline into Picton, being aware of all boat traffic. The kayak finishes at Picton Foreshore. Team kayakers must run to tag their cyclists.
30km Cycle: Cycle leaves Picton Foreshore Public Carpark, along Auckland Street, right,into Wairau Road and State Highway 1 to Blenheim. Cycle course goes along Grove Road, through Main Street roundabout and up Redwood St to Wither Rd. Turn right into Wither Rd and cycle to the end where you will turn left onto Taylor Pass Rd. Turn left at first roundabout and the transition will be at the new Wither Hills Farmpark carpark just off Taylor Pass Rd.
11km Run: Follow markers onto lower farm track to run all the way along the bottom of the farm park to Redwood St. Turn right to run to end of Redwood St and onto the Sutherland Stream all the way up to the ridgeline (drinking fountain). Follow top ridgeline all the way back down past the rotary lookout and to the finish at the carpark.
