[quote="DougalInteresting. I would have thought the forged pistons would first be cast into a rough shape. But hey who knows what corners they've cut. I haven't noticed it in my brothers B4, how many k's on yours? Is it the result of bigger clearance and a bit of wear?

I know my rangies diesel is a whole lot quieter, better and sweeter with a new thermostat, it was running about 10-15C too cold. Apparently diesel pistons have ceramic fibres in them to keep the expansion down.

I've heard of the chev/holden LS1's having major slap issues and drinking oil because of it.[/quote] No its cause it a Poo engine or it a holden/chev
Yeah Like 1/10 or 20 LS1 enginges shit them selves in 6-12 months. Thats just plain scarey, whats really wrong is the way that the dealers are dealing with the problems "No there meant to make that noise, Here some free oil" all 20L of it. Or "Can u still drive it then just pop in to your nearest dealer and they'll take a look at it, What was that I couldn't hear u over that tractor. Oh sorry didn't releise that was the car. Desert Road No that will make it to Auckland yeah most likely.
Haha thats what u get when yanks try a half arse copy of a jap desigh.
