Makara Peak Shuttle Day Sept 30th

Postby Robbie on Thu 2/Jul/09 7:23pm

The Makara Peak Supporters are running another School Holiday special Shuttle Day.
This is run by volunteers with all proceeds going to make Makara Peak even better!

Where?
Up the Snake Charmer (4wd road) to the summit.

When?
9AM until dark

How much?
$20 per rider, which covers as many rides we can manage, or you can handle, whichever comes first.

The Pickup Point:
The intersection of the 4wd roads, about 400M up from the St Alban's Road gate

The Drop Off point:
The summit of Makara Peak

The Transport:
The more vehicles that we can get ( within reason) the more runs that we can provide, so if you believe that you have a suitable vehicle, in which you are prepared to transport participants please let us know.

Vehicles need to be able to easily climb the metalled 4wd road without losing traction.
They need to legally seat 5 or more ( incl the driver) and carry 4 or more bikes.
( We are not able to be more relaxed about transport arrangements as this Council land, and we are required to obey the same rules as if this was a normal public road)

Bonus Number One:
Providing a suitable vehicle will entitle you to TWO free entries.

Bonus Number Two:
Helping out at a Makara Peak Planting day will entitle you to a 50% discount on the entry, helping out for two days = FREE entry

**Thanks again to Don for organising this !

Cheers,
Rob

Yep, and anybody who helps out this Sunday planting on Ridgeline will get:

* free lunch at the Planting work
* $10 off the price of the shuttles
* lots of great Karma for helping to make Ridgeline a bit less open and windswept

Last time I was up there, about 3 weeks ago, Ridgeline was off the hook!

I was surprised how rough ridgeline had become since I was last up, and that was a few months back

Will be there, bit of a pisser how it's always on a weekday though. And yeah ridgeline seems nice and unmolested at the moment, it's especially awesome as it's greasy as fuck too

For those who are considering bringing along a vehicle on the day, please call Don MacLeod on 476 0042 BEFORE wednesday 30th August (the sooner the better) so he can ensure that there will be the right type, and the right amount of transport :)

Hello all
This event is a little over one week off

At the moment we do have enough transport, however if you are still keen on assisting by being a reserve, please call Don 476 0042 BEFORE wednesday next week.

This will be huge fun for those who enjoy transport up, and riding back down.

All you can handle in one day

It will be daylight savings by then yeah? Can't really take the time off work but might be able to swing through afterwards if I can get in a few runs before dark...

Hmmm the Wellington weather is not giving us much of a break for tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Any way we can find out if it has been postponed? (So that I don't waste a day of annual leave)

Free bump ;)

The shuttles are on

All we need is keen riders (and drivers) and we will cater for whoever turns up and wants a run or ten :)

See you in the morning !
