Makara Peak Rally - Rec Course Pre-ride Sat 22nd

Postby Melissa_Theuriau on Fri 21/Nov/08 2:33pm

Makara Peak Rally - Pre-ride of the "Rec course" for the Tour de Peak Event Tomorrow!

Wondering what it will take to do the Rec course in the "Tour de Peak" Event at the Makara Peak Rally? The tracks are: Koru, Sally Alley, Ridgeline Extension, SWIGG, Starfish, Lazy Fern (up), and Magic Carpet.

Ashley Burgess and Celia Lie will be taking a pre-ride of the track tomorrow (Saturday 22nd November). The ride will be at a very easy, sifty pace so please come along and join us! Meet at 1pm at the Makara Peak carpark on South Karori Road. Sorry for the late notice - we've been watching the weather reports avidly the past few days and it looks like the weather will be OK for the pre-ride. Even if you're not planning on entering the Rally, feel free to come along on a social MTB ride!

More information about the Makara Peak Rally at www.makarapeak.org/rally2008 . If you need to contact us, please email Celia at runaspism@hotmail.com or Ashley at ashley.burgess@wcc.govt.nz.

Cheers,

Celia & Ashley.

last year Kaitlyn and I did - up Lazy Fern, Magic Carpet, down Livewires, Koru, Sally Alley, Ridgeline Extn, SWIGG/Starfish. Livewires wasn't included in the course, but we reckoned it was the quickest route. We did almost jacknife the trailer at one point, mind you...

I was thinking up Lazy Fern (well, Koru for the pre-ride), SA, RE, SWIGG/Starfish, then up Koru, Magic Carpet, and down either SWIGG/Starfish again or Livewires depending on the level of the riders who show up :)

Nice :)

The advantage of the way we did it was elimination of unnecessary duplication, and stream crossings!

:pmob: Most people could run/walk/roll Livewires in the time it would take to head back up from Skillz and do Swigg/Starfish I reckon.

Don't want to put off some people from doing the thing entirely if they hate Livewires though! :p
