Long Gully Open Day - 6 August

Postby Vee on Tue 19/Jul/11 4:55pm

The Wellington Mountain Bike Club would like to invite you to the Long Gully Open Day on Saturday 6 August!

This is an event for everyone and particularly those who have helped out at Long Gully with digging and volunteering duties. We would also like to use this opportunity to show people the area via shuttle tours and in particular, people that haven't had the opportunity to ride at Long Gully before.

So, the plan is to meet at the Brooklyn Hill wind turbine carpark at 9.00am where we can carpool people to the Airstrip and shuttle to the top of the hill.
The days activities will include trail building in the morning, which will continue through to noon and we will have a yummy barbecue for lunch. Trail building is a great way to see what we do up at Long Gully and an even better way to check out the tracks before riding them.

In the afternoon, a number of us will lead guided shuttle tours down the tracks for people who are new to or have never ridden at Long Gully. This will be a fantastic opportunity for any newbies looking to up their game and check out the tracks with Vee and Emma as ladies tour leaders!

Please note: A fullface helmet is essential, we also recommend gloves, kneepads and body armour. A full suspension bike is recommended, generally with 5" of travel or more.

The day is free for anyone who participates in trail building, but can also show up at 1.00pm for shuttles at the cost of $20 per person.

After shuttles, we will head over to The Southern Cross for 'debrief' drinks and a meal. Should be a really sweet day and would be cool to see you there!

Hey guys, just a reminder that Long Gully Open Day is THIS SATURDAY!

We'll be doing a pickup from Bluebridge, across from the Wellington railway station at 8.00am for people that are unable to make their way from the city to Long Gully. We'll have the shuttle trailer so can take bikes and passengers, let us know if you are interested so we can get an idea of numbers.

Should be a pretty wicked day, hope to see some of you there!
