my favourite quote from the cyclingtips blog;
"What this signals is that there will be more of the same. Those who are connected to the right power centers in cycling are going to continue to get away with doping. The ones who are dispensable will fall."

it does seem to be getting confused as a clearing of Armstrong of Doping, Vs a decision to not pursue a difficult case about fraud with government money with the target having significant political influence.

IMHO..
1) did he dope. Yes.
2) will he have any TdF titles removed and ever be censured for it. No.
3) Cycling needs to move on, i don't think anything will be achieved by continually going after armstrong.

I think its stuff overstatement at work. I watched both vidz and both were mobbed by various press and officials within metres of the line. I struggle to see how either had the physical space (or the focus, after a sprint in the last km of a 21km run, after a 90km bike and a 1.9km swim) for pleasantries.

I'm impressed that Lance can swim and run at that level so quickly after being a bike specialist. How many TdF racers could do that? Even if you are a good runner and sea swimmer it is still different doing all three together.

He started off in the sport as a teenager and soon became very competitive at a National level in the states so he's got some history in the sport. He's built pretty powerfully in the upper body for a tdf winner which probably helps too, at least on the swim. But re–training the cycling leg muscles after all those yrs on the bike to become a decent runner can't have been easy?

But yeah you're doing pretty well when only an ex–Olympic medallist and World class triathlete beats you by a few seconds :o

When they asked why after 2 years they pulled the plug on the Lance case "..the reason why the case was shut down was due to a one-man decision. The evidence against those involved was absolutely overwhelming. They were going to be charged with a slew of crimes but for reasons unexplained he closed the case saying it wasn't open for discussion.."
