I figure the way to do the winning in such an event is to ride long and light... can do that on any one of those bikes I 'spose.

I'm soooo keen to train up and enter this shit next time (I hope there will be a next time....) - I think I'd probably go with a ht frame with skinnyish xc tyres on it... Or similar. I'd need to go for the cheapest suitable option though

He's a bloody tough rider but also a very kind person. I've been proud to watch his progress during the Brevet and hope he makes it home safely.

Thanks Tom for those kind words about Thomas. I am not his coach (he doesn't have one at the moment), I am the one he rings up in the night wondering what to do next when stuffed, cold and with a broken cleat! i.e. one of his parents :hmmm: Hopefully he will be in before midnight

Just what you need, Lisa Savage, first woman across the line and what does she get? A free entry to Girls on Bikes in Methven on the 20th. A lot of cross bikes in already but maybe that's more a measure of the competitive juices of those riding them, all cross bike pilots saying it wasn't the best choice and if they did it again it would be on some form of MTB.

I'm presuming he is with Simon - that's the plan as far as I know. I sent him a text earlier and the lack of reply makes me think he's riding.

Or possibly abducted by aliens (or banjo-playing yokels) in Culverden. They're getting close now though. Epic!
