Hmmm, this idea gets in like liquid into the chalk.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of doing it on my CRX. It has carrier mounts already on the rear triangle. Fits at least a 700x35 tyre (the Maxxis tyres I used for the 'cross race), is nice and light, great on the road, and super comfortable. I reckon I'd get Oli to build up some good strong wheels with a few more spokes than the factory built Shimano wheels I currently have on it (with 16 spoke front...). Nice big froint triangle for storage - plenty of space for 2 bottles + some luggage if necessary...

you just described the current build of the roadrat :paranoid: May I sugest DMR revolver hubs with Salsa Delgardo cross rims (or the WTB ones, they are also nice). strong and reliable, without being overly heavy :)

Or seeing as I'm going to be busy at the time, you could borrow my wheels. Hope pro2 with WTB rims, built up by tristan - just yell if you want to borrow :)

A lovely offer thorg, which ordinarily would be incredibly hard to pass up. Given what I'll be wearing though, it just wouldn't seem right...

Wonder what would be quicker on the 3rd, 4th, 5th.... day. Alloy harsh and light or the vibration dampening of carbon.

Its French. From Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brevet_(cycling)

In the sport of randonneuring, a brevet or randonnée is an organised long-distance bicycle ride. Cyclists - who, in this discipline, may be referred to as randonneurs - follow a designated but unmarked route (usually 200km to 1400km), passing through check-point controls, and must complete the course within specified time limits. These limits, while challenging, still allow the ride to be completed at a comfortable pace - there is no requirement to cycle at racing speeds or employ road bicycle racing strategies.

Typically a road 1200 is done in under 90hrs.

I wonder if the guy I sold my cross bike and luggage to is sick of it yet....
