IMO, the Petite Brevet is a very different test, and much more like a very long and tough XC event than the Kiwi Brevet is!
Concur, i did the 2009 Petite Brevet, it is a 2 day climbfest, a different kind of challenge to the 8 dayer I imagine.
However, half the battle is navigation (not making mistakes or having to stop and map read) and planning (knowing where you can get water/fuel/sleep and your pace allows you to travel lighter), and being able to practice the course sorts this, therefore the Petite Brevet (if it stays on Banks Peninsular) is ideal for you Chch'rs in that respect




Nice choice in beer too, nothing like a 9% Trappist special to soothe the body at the end of a long day
