He might be running out of road! I don't think he'll manage to ride twice as fast as them over that distance.

It looks like Thomas might be heading for Christchurch :(

In his blog Jeff wrote:We were watching some weird bike tracks in the gravel near Stillwater. Were all over the road. Then we saw what looked like a pile of old rags on roadside. It was Thomas! Still dealing with issues.

Yeah I read this earlier. This is what I fucking love about Thomas, how he just buries himself with scant regard for the welfare of his body.
Suspect he may gain some perverse pleasure from getting to the point where he can 'look inside himself' as sifter put it so well this morning

Was wondering about that :(

And he's going 90kph! Hitching a lift?

It would appear so. Hopefully nothing sinister going on...

"6.91 km traveled at 40.7 kph"

That is not cool about Thomas, hopefully he can get back on the road with a fully functioning bike!

I see that no-one has done the craigieburn alternate yet, be interesting to see if anyone does. I guess after 3.5 days of long distance punishment, flowy techy single track on a laden bike might not seem worth the extra climbing? Interesting to see how many do the St James alternate as well.

that section down the north side of the wairau river that Sharpie is on now, must be quite heavy going ?

how big is the Goulter River, can't see any bridges to cross it on Google maps ? :paranoid:
