if I make jumps I use dirt from hard soil, what you do is just basically dig it up in large chunks, with a shovel or fork, and use those large chunks as the base, and build on that with smaller chunks filling caps and also rocks, but i've also used large peices of wood before, just gotta make sure if you do use wood that it all locks together nicely.

But if you want pristine jumps use just good claylike soil.

the place where we found is pretty mint

but all the ground is coverd in pine stuff, the tree logs are all rotten and its hard to dig as we have only a smll spade because it takes ages to bike up to where we go...

Are you sure it's legal to build where you are thinking of? I know places that are meant for it and that's where I jump but I only dig places that already have jumps or bike trails there.

Tried, then the council takes them back to how they were. Aparently to hard for beginners.

Have you talked to the council, or your area bike club? you may be able to come to an arrangement where you can have multiple lines that are of varying degrees of difficulty

why not talk to council first and ask to put another line in, rather than wreck the beginners line?
