These pixie work parties are getting closer.

If you are keen to be involved, please email me on robscave@gmail.com if you have not already, and I can make sure everybody is in the loop.

We will need to sort out which days people want to be there, and I will make sure the tools and provisions are in place.

How often do you get to create a permanent playground

The current schedule is here-->http://makarapeak.org/events

Cheers

Rob :)

Note these dates:
Dec 27
Dec 29
Dec 31 ( a good way to burn off the night's excesses in advance!)
Jan 2 ( This is a North Face dig day)
Jan 4 ( this is a Tuesday evening as well, so maybe we shall just start in the afternoon??)
Jan 6

These dates can be shifted by popular acclaim.
Please email me at robscave@gmail.com or send me a txt so I can make huge sandwiches etc. If you are allergic to meat or nuts please let me know!!

The weekend after we have a normal work party, currently assigned to Varleys, however this track may change....

Cheers to Colin, Jono, Martin, Rob and especially Gordon,, (from Scotland via Rotorua) who came along to his first dig @ Makara Peak.

Work kicked off at 10am, and the last of the die-hards wandered away around 5.

JFK is going to be pretty spectacular

Intermediate riders will enjoy the track for sure, and there will be plenty for the fast aggressive riders to sink their teeth into :D

There is the usual Tuesday evening dig tonight at the top from 5 (when the weather should be much improved) and the Pixies will be back tomorrow at the bottom from 10.

This evening digging continues on the switchback in the valley, and the rest of the pilot track as it heads off for 150m towards the Keyhole.

And tomorrow the Pixies will be cleaning up a little section near the flat then wandering up to near the ridge. There are rollers to remake, a corner exit to adjust and a table top to finish..

Thanks to the Pixie/Pixies who clearted puddles and drains on the trails today. I headed up around 3ish and some eager beaver had cleared drains all the way up Koru.

Well done that person

BTW all this rain has done wonders for the plant growth. Any B+D afficionados will really love the whipping they get going down Lazy Fern ;)

Today has daylight and is sunny!! And there is no way we will be there from 10am until dark.

Plenty to do on the lower end of JFK: all but one of the drainage areas off rollers etc worked really well, and there is plenty to do to smooth out the track to the ridge.

And there is a table top to be built !! :D

I shall bring the sunscreen, food and drink...

Today three pixies sweated away on the bottom end of JFK, staggering off after 6pm.

Cambers were changed, drainage areas moved, track was lowered and widened, corners were opened out, berms adjusted..intermediate lines were better seperated from the thrillseeking ones, and edges were armoured. That kind of thing.

We have reworked about 80m of this track so it will be awesome on opening day!!'

The bottom end only needs one more pixie day I think, which might well be next Monday.
