Your thoughts please.

Now just imagine it spraying urine / gas and flame / way better things than dye

I always liked the lock that was a simple chain with one end attached to a grenade, and the other to the pin...

But then you can cut the chain, and not blow up the grenade... Not exactly rocket science.

Should also have pepper spray. Otherwise thats kind of cool. But it'd suck to have someone try to nick your bike and get stains all over it :(

A bike that has been stolen will be covered in coloured dye (the dye renders the bike undesirable and therefore unsellable ) as well as transluscent Smartwater - an invisible forensic property marking liquid...... The dye may wash off but the effects of invisbile smartwater lingers on perpetrators and can be detected by ultra violet scanners used by the police.
and if the theif does not take the bike, it's owner will no longer want it anyway

Have an electrical current flowing through the bugger, or better yet, a multi-directional tazer hidden in a drink bottle.

Interesting idea, however I refuse to leave my bike anywhere not secure. Fortunately at work we have a card access room specifically for storing bikes, so I don't need to worry about locks there. For other places I am normally on my bike, so no chance on it being stolen then.

The other day however I was considering buying another drink part way through a ride, I was right by a New World and was wondering what they would think if I walked my bike through the store. I just carried on riding instead.

Nice idea, but I don't know how practical it really is.

For those of us using a bike as their primary means of transport, anything that deters is a good thing.

But unless the thief had specifically read about the lock, it wouldn't deter them?

nothing against the law about bringing your ride into a supermarket,at the Warehouse its good to have security (sometimes) at the exit so you can leave your ride near them,I wouldnt push my bike around with me in any store tho,it would be o.k tho as it would be classed as a personal possesion like a backpack/purse/electric guitar and amp(buskers applicable only) you could class it as a wheelchair thats modified for your walking disabilaty? :p
