Re: Inspiring Riding: Bicycle Powered Adventures

A few months ago, I met Mike after work and we rode a few kilometers to Baked Beans Bend, in Belmont Regional Park.
We stayed there for the night on a little bike overnight adventure, then rode in to work the following morning.
An adventure almost within sight of home.

Thanks Dave. The next few months will be filled with hard work I suspect - but it will be exciting! We'll release more info and as soon as we have it.

Thanks to the kindness of Chris and Sue at Puresports, I have a big red Rohloff hub to ride. It's on loan in return for a few reports on my experiences with it.

Here's the first - my thoughts after a few short rides...

More coming soon.

Journey is starting to take shape. We have a contents page, publishing info, and the loose themes we'l run with for the first year. The most exciting part (for us) is the adventures we need to do between now and January to create words and images, and all the interesting people we need to meet and persuade that they really should contribute too.

Excellent story. I had a similar day with my daugther, she's far from a natural but had fun. She seems to like cleaning and tinkering after riding more.
Maybe she'll be a mechanic

I also found out that the pump track is far easier on a 12" bike rather than a 29er! Or at least, Fred made it look easier than I've ever found it.

Yah, they are often built for short wheel-bases I think.
Great write up Paul. :)

I havent seen a balance bike with a brake on it before, but I love the way he is keeping a hand on the lever at all times, that is great that he has already learnt a valuable biking skill (aside from the obvious rolling/balancing/etc).

One from the archives.
Issue #1 of our new publication, Journey, will have the theme of 'adventure starts here'.
Working through the many steps to making Journey happen, my thoughts turned to the first adventure I wrote about here in New Zealand:

Enjoy. Paul
