Info On Waipa Mountain Bike Club (wamo)

Postby brendanhaigh on Tue 30/Sep/08 9:39pm

A group of keen MTBers from the Te Awamutu area formed this new club in the winter of '08. Our main objectives are to provide a network for local riders to meet and ride, to develop and maintain MTB trails in the Waipa area and to promote MTBing in our district. We now have over 40 riders on our mailing list. Club activities so far have been a series of after-work night rides in the Te Awamutu and Pirongia area and we have a bunch more rides planned between now and the end of the year (see separate post for details). We are currently developing a proposal for MTB trail system on a Waipa District Council foresty block with 15 min drive of Te Awamutu and have submitted a community grant application to run a trail building workshop this spring. Our intention is to establish a club website to be hosted by Vorb (thanks Tama) to keep everyone up to date but in the interim we will use this forum, along with regular emails to our mailing list, to keep people informed. If you would like to be on our mailing list, or would like info on joining the club, contact our club communications person, Tui, at
