Am selling my spare CX bike if anyone is keen - GT ZRX '04 54cm.

224.JPG

On trade'em as we speak. Always was a tad small for me so have replaced it with a 56cm Kona jake and a mongol 26" Marin mtb frame conversion (steel, love the feel). Will take offers in the vicinity of $500 cash. Give me a txt 027 4430362 if ya keen. I'm 186cm tall and it was a bit cramped. Tall buggers need to look elsewhere sorry.

Back in the early 90's in balmy Palmy we used to get canti posts brazed onto solid old road frames like Avanti sprints etc....they had enough rear stay clearance for 35C cross tires (just) and were pretty durable. Worth a thought for all you budget-minded wannabe CXers out there. Just need to aquire some bosses and make friends/sell favours to a welder who gets the bike gig.

Just a quick update folks:

We've wrangled up some grub for the event courtesy of the local Tex Mex restaurant. They'll be serving up tacos and other munchies. The scouts may also be on site with sausages.

Will most likely have a coffee wagon as well to keep both competitors and crowd amped up.
Prizes courtesy of yours truly, Maxxis, Geax, Enervit, Stan's No Tubes and Remedy Sports Massage.

Depending on the numbers there may also be a purse! So those of you who are gunning for the podium tell your friends to come out and ride as well.

There will be an assortment of cross tyres on hand with some cheap as chips Continentals. For those of you who are considering getting a cross rig, I'll be bringing a couple of the Masi Speciale CXs and Surly Cross Checks for your consideration.

Did I mention beer?

For health and safety reasons there will be a no bar end and no fixed gear rule. The course is tight, twisty and reasonably technical and therefore not a suitable place for either.

The weather has been great. Lots of rain! Will be very entertaining on Saturday. Hope to see you there.

More information from Mike:
Food on site by La Siesta Mexican Cafe. They’ll be serving up breakfast style burritos as well as nachos.

Coffee by Espresso Rescue.

Masi CX and Surly Cross Checks on display.

I’ll also bring some cheap (!) Conti cross tyres for those who want to score a twenty dollar Conti.

Prizes provided by Geax/Vittoria, Enervit, Louis Garneau, Sock Guy, Maxxis and BBB.

I’ve decided to have in store specials over the weekend for all of the Vorberinos out there. 25% off all bikes in stock and 30% off everything else. This will not be advertised anywhere else. I should tell you that VORB got the ball rolling for me and my family to emigrate from the US. I found my first job in NZ on the site which was at the time a requirement for permanent residency. I am a sentimental guy for sure.

There will be GOOOOOD beer, cheese and baguettes in true euro trash style at the shop on Saturday after the race. More rain in the forecast, so folks might want to head over and eat, drink and be merry.

The course will be primo! Nice and wet of course. I’d say it’s two thirds grass and one third gravel. If it rains on the day, the carnage will provide great thrills.

Stay away from me with those specials you naughty man. I really badly want a cross bike and shouldn't be getting one.

Hopefully I can get rid of these impending cold and be able to race.

Careful Pete - Mike has a lovely stable of Gary Fisher 29ers in the Bike Hutt as well. You might come out with VERY empty pockets

That is awesome Mike - good on you.
The Vorbii should get all over these specials, Mike is a top bloke and is giving huge support to cycling in the Hutt/Welly

Your problem is solved, I'm not racing because of illness so have a CX bike going spare :-)

Roadrat - you've heard the press, now ride the best.

Pics up earlier in the thread.

For the glory of bushlove, you have no excuses now.

Now that sounds counter to the purported bushlove credo. Perhaps I can loan you my ss cx, to avoid you being left out.

That sounds like a mighty fine offer.

Now all I need to find is a full body skinsuit :D

There is also the extremely high possibility that I won't be there also. Shuttling and hucks in Vegas might be taking me away.
